What is a 1SGT?
An Air Force First Sergeant (1SGT) is a senior enlisted member of the United States Air Force who serves as the principal advisor to the commander on matters concerning the morale, welfare, and conduct of enlisted personnel in a unit. The First Sergeant is responsible for ensuring the well-being of the enlisted personnel in the unit, as well as serving as a liaison between the commander and the enlisted members. They also provide guidance, mentorship, and support to their subordinates, and are responsible for ensuring that the enlisted members of the unit are properly trained and equipped to carry out their duties. In addition, they play a key role in maintaining discipline and order within the unit, and are often involved in the resolution of conflicts and disputes. First Sergeants are typically selected for their leadership abilities, experience, and dedication to the Air Force core values.
